We’re thrilled to share that DataSeer’s joint initiative with Taylor & Francis, has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 ALPSP Award! Our pilot, “Embedding transparency and reproducibility in science: A scalable partnership to support research excellence and data sharing policies,” has passed the first round of evaluation, and is now on the shortlist of finalists.
Embedding transparency and reproducibility in scientific communications
Together, our two organizations deliver the industry’s first massively scalable, AI-powered editorial screening solution focused on advancing research integrity and driving excellence in research. We accomplish that by integrating DataSeer SnapShot with Taylor & Francis and F1000’s submission system platforms, where it works within existing editorial workflows to screen for data policy compliance, triage manuscripts, and provide author-facing feedback and revision instructions. The initiative demonstrates how technology and editorial professionals can unite to make data sharing simple for researchers, and consistent for journals — without increasing staff workload.
There’s a clear gap between the expectations for data sharing set by funder and publisher policies, and what journals are realistically able to support and enforce through manual workflows alone. Major barriers exist, including lack of training, confusion about the variety of complexity of different policy standards, cost, time, and administrative workload. SnapShot integration gives journals an affordable and sustainable option for operationalizing policy at scale. And it doesn’t just detect errors. It also provides guidance to researchers who need support, and accelerates the process for those who fulfill requirements, leading to more rapid assessment, greater researcher satisfaction, and increased likelihood to meet requirements in the future.
