The Royal Society and DataSeer sign agreement for Open Data Checks

London, UK and Vancouver, Canada – March 14, 2024 – The Royal Society, the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence, and, a leading provider of open science analytics and compliance solutions, proudly announce the signing of a strategic agreement aimed at enhancing open research data compliance in the Royal Society journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

It follows the completion of a successful pilot, which commenced with the journal in January 2024, to address the growing need for robust mechanisms to ensure compliance with open research data policies. With the exponential growth of scientific data and the increasing emphasis on transparency in research, there has been a corresponding demand for innovative solutions to streamline the open data compliance process.

Proceedings B has recruited a team of eight Data Editors who are responsible for assessing data sets and data statements for quality, completeness and reliability, ensuring that the journal’s open data policies are adhered to.  Under the new agreement, will provide its cutting-edge AI-powered platform and open data reports to Proceedings B enabling detailed checks for compliance with open research data mandates. Leveraging advanced algorithms and machine learning capabilities,’s platform can efficiently analyze vast datasets, identify potential compliance issues, and provide actionable insights to researchers and institutions. The Data Editors will use these reports as part of their data assessment process.
